Chevrolet Cobalt

Posted by Dennis Ramilo on 18th July 2008

Although it looks modern and generally expected to contend with other small sedans, the Chevrolet Cobalt doesn’t have that mass appeal, and it is also nowhere near the top of its class in comfort and performance. Furthermore, some experts complain about the tight space in the back seat. This car does, however, manage to impress car magazine editors about its fuel economy, which is better than most cars typically called small sedans.

Economy, and price; these are the two reasons why someone should consider buying a Chevrolet Cobalt. If you can live with what’s stated above, and if you’re in a tight budget, this car is perfect. It’s most suitable for casual drivers without high expectations on engine performance and comfortably luxurious interior. That’s not saying the Chevrolet Cobalt is bad in these areas, it’s just not good enough to be at the top. It also offers quite a quiet ride, and with its good suspension, perhaps you can forget about the cramped back seat.

The simple exterior design of the Chevrolet Cobalt seems to have found favor among most of the reviewers. It’s not stylish too, not if you compare it to other cars with bold, I’ve-got-something-to-say look. But its appeal lies in the fact that it’s not pretentious, nor is it overly proud. This car also offers excellent safety features. In fact, it is near the top in the safety category. Here is a website offering more info on the Chevrolet Cobalt.

Nissan 350Z Coupe

Posted by Dennis Ramilo on 14th July 2008

The Nissan 350Z is one powerful car with an affordable price. It’s compact and light, which leads to an excellent power-to-weight ratio. It looks awesome too with its sporty exterior design. One will probably turn a lot of heads with this car. Onlookers should not take their eyes off this beauty, it accelerates so fast it’s here and then there in just a moment. Editors of car magazines were sure that the Nissan 350Z can beat the Mazda RX-8 and the Audi TT. What more can you ask for an affordable sports car?

The impressive power of the Nissan 350Z sent car reviewers buzzing with delight. Who wouldn’t be? Couple that power with tremendous handling and stability and you got an almost complete car. Almost. The interior design needs a bit more work starting with the materials. You see, the materials used in the interior of the Nissan 350Z are not something you’d be proud of. The cargo space is minimal as well. This has been a constant criticism on every compact sports car, so I guess this can be overlooked.

The Nissan excels in performance and safety measures. You want power? It delivers it with delight, the sweet hum of its engine like music to the ears. Maneuvering is easy, the wheel is very responsive. The cabin space offers lots of room to be comfortable. This car is a fun car to drive, no doubt about it. The following link will take you to a website with a thorough review and pricing info on the Nissan 350Z.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

Posted by Dennis Ramilo on 26th June 2008

This is a fast car. No kidding, this is a very fast car, perhaps the fastest production car in the world. Although you really can’t utilize all that speed (reportedly reaching 256.18 mph tops) in any public highway, there are some out there who wants bragging rights. Wouldn’t it be cool to say with all honesty that you own the fastest car in the world? This is the car that broke the Bugatti Veyron’s record for top speed.

Photos by: daslive.blogspot.com

The Bugatti Veyron looks better though, but the SSC Ultimate Aero is no pushover when it comes to exterior design. It looks smooth, and that’s no wonder since engineers really made sure that air would flow naturally through its body, with no obstructions. Featuring butterfly wing doors, it seems like its ready to fly once both doors are opened. The engine block is all aluminum. Inside, you’d be entertained by the Azentek Atlas infotainment system.

Lightweight carbon fiber materials keep the weight to a minimum. This, plus the turbo V8 engine helped this car set a new record. The engine is capable of 1180 hp and 1094lbs of torque. The Ultimate Aero only needs 2.78secs to reach a speed of 60mph from a standstill. Here’s a website that offers pricing info on SSC Ultimate Aero TT.

Maybach Landaulet

Posted by Dennis Ramilo on 17th June 2008

A car fit for royalty, the Maybach Landaulet offers unparalleled interior comfort and luxury. It offers a full open-air experience and an unobstructed view of the blue sky for passengers on the back seat. Through a switch on the central console, the chauffeur can open up the roof of the car via electro-hydraulics. The back seat roof is then deposited snugly on a parcel shelf on the rear. The whole process takes about 16 seconds. To preserve the elegant look of the car, a leather cover encloses the folded roof to hide it from view.

For added safety, the side walls were reinforced with an integral tubular steel structure. Wide doors promote a comfortable entry towards a highly luxurious passenger area offering a couple of fully reclining seats and a complete state-of-the-art entertainment system. The passenger compartment is also fitted almost completely by white leather known as Seychelles white. The floor carpeting is white velour, and white fabric lines the roof. All these are accentuated by decorative black lacquer and/or black granite trims with generous gold inclusions. This is in direct contrast to the driver compartment’s glossy black leather and black lacquer trims.

Powered by a V12 engine, the Landaulet is capable of producing 450kW/612hp. The Airmatic Dual Control air suspension allows the Landaulet to offer a highly comfortable ride. Add all these to the Antigua white paintwork and the 20inch tires with shiny, white spokes and you get a majestic, powerful car designed to pamper its passengers.

Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe

Posted by Dennis Ramilo on 16th June 2008

Based on the highly acclaimed 101EX Concept, Rolls Royce unveiled the Phantom Coupe, a lavish convertible version of the 101EX. Some of the new features include new rear-hinged doors to facilitate easy access to the rear bench seats, optional cameras mounted on the front and back to help with maneuvering in tight spots, larger driving lamps on the front, and 21inch run-flat capable Goodyear tires.

The Phantom is powered by 6.75liter V12 engine. It can produce 453 horsepower and a torque of 720Nm. The top speed is not really noteworthy at only a modest 155mph but considering the total weight of 2,600kg, then 155mph is quite impressive. This convertible can also go from zero to sixty in 5.6 seconds. The braking system is a massive ventilated disc with twin piston alloy calipers at the front and a single piston caliper at the rear. The discs are 14.7in and 14.6in in the front and back respectively.

Riding comfort is maintained by continuously adjusting air suspension that levels itself automatically. Servotronic assistance during steering is also provided to increase road feel. The Phantom Coupe also has greater agility than the Phantom due to its shorter wheelbase at 250mm. The rear dampers are also stiffer and it also features modified spring rates. The Coupe also comes installed with a rear anti-roll bar that is thicker, reducing body roll. The accelerator pedal has also been enhanced to provide faster acceleration and the steering has been aptly tuned.

If $1.25 million seems too cheap, you can get almost the same car,the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès, for nearly twice as much: $2.3 million.

One of the difference: It’s not only a Bugatti, but it also carries the Hermès signature.

What makes this sports car so special? For one, with a 16-cylinder engine and 1001 horsepower, it’s the fastest legal car on the market, with speeds from zero to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds. But for the fabulously wealthy, the addition of an Hermès-designed interior on top of the finest automotive technology is what makes it truly out of the ordinary.

The “fbg” edition is named after Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and can bee seen on the streets of Paris where the Hermès headquarters are located.

In the 1920 the was already some collaboration between Ettore Bugatti and Émile Hermès: Bugatti ordered a custom suitcase from Hermès for the first model of his car.

The trunk of the Bugatti now comes with an Hermès suitcase already in place and the door handles reference the handle of the original suitcase designed for Ettore Bugatti.
